Motus Wildlife Tracking System

The JES Avanti Foundation is a proud supporter of Birds Canada and partners, and the work they've done with the Motus Wildlife Tracking system (Motus).

Motus is a network of receiving towers enabling researchers to track the movements of birds, bats, and other flying animals as they move and migrate. The results help to identify priority habitats and locate potential threats to vulnerable species in order to direct conservation efforts and funds for maximum impact.
In collaboration with Greg Kearns (MNCPPC) and the Bermuda Zoological Society, in August 2019 we helped establish the Trunk Island tower in Bermuda opening the door to a much broader spectrum of data off the coastline.
Along with the American Bird Conservancy we'll soon be installing an additional receiver at our Heritage location in North Carolina.
